Future proofing Barwon Water’s infrastructure

Gordon McKay Pty Ltd has a longstanding partnership with Barwon Water, contributing to the enhancement of the region’s water infrastructure. Gordon McKay’s has been providing project and maintenance services to Barwon Water since 1990, resulting in significant expertise within the water utility industry.

To future proof Barwon Water’s infrastructure, the replacement and upgrade of multiple Sewage Pumping Stations was undertaken requiring complex coordination of schedules to ensure no disruption to customer services while working within tight time frames. The scope of work for these upgrades included the replacement of motor control centres, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), local control equipment, instrumentation, harmonic filters, variable speed drives (VSDs), and backup generation facilities.

Gordon McKay overhauled and replaced Barwon Water’s entire telemetry network, transitioning from outdated analogue systems to advanced digital technology, from base to field, completing the future proofing and ensuring enhanced reliability and efficiency.

This project required a flexible approach and constant collaboration with all parties demonstrating Gordon McKay’s team’s dedication to customer service.
