The High Voltage team at Gordon McKay were called into action to support our client with the repair of their high voltage feed to their site.
On the morning of the 18th of October Gordon McKay received a call that the high voltage cable feeding their terminal had been dug up whilst civil works were being done.
Our team of certified technicians were dispatched to assess the damage and initiate repairs as soon as possible.
The Gordon McKay maintenance team was also requested to assist our client with generator power to support the terminal.
The maintenance team worked diligently to source and connect a portable generator to bring the terminal back online whilst the HV cable was repaired.
The technicians contacted our wholesalers who assisted by opening to supply jointing kits to complete the works. Cable to repair the fault was sourced through another of Gordon McKay’s clients who had it in stock.
All safety protocols were implemented to mitigate any risks during the repair process, including isolating the power supply to the affected area and barricading for civil works to take place for access to the severed cable.
Once the HV team completed the repair to the cable it was tested and then brought back online.
After the power was restored the maintenance team disconnected the generator and the terminal was back to normal running conditions.
Well done to all Gordon McKay personnel for their response and support showed to our client in assisting them with their operations.
