Werribee Zoo elephant habitat
Development Victoria required a new high voltage electrical supply to be installed at the Werribee Open Range Zoo, to enable the construction of a state-of-the-art, 21-hectare Elephant Trail.
This new habitat provides a spacious and enriching environment for the zoo’s nine Asian elephants.
Gordon McKay won the tender to deliver the upgrade of the Werribee Zoo’s high voltage power electrical infrastructure. This project involved the establishment of an underground bore beneath the Princes Freeway, along with the supply and installation of a high voltage substation and high voltage electrical cabling, and connection into Powercor’s network.
All inspection and testing requirements for each item of equipment and subsystem to meet Powercor authority auditing and verification requirements.
