Gordon McKay staff are being strongly encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19 amid the increasing positive case numbers, and with improved supply enabling mass inoculations.

This week, our parent company Citywide launched its Protect a Mate. Vaccinate. advocacy campaign, encouraging the 1,300-strong workforce across the Group to roll up their sleeves for the jab.

Citywide CEO Chris Campbell said it was incumbent on all staff to do the right thing, recognising our responsibility to ensure the health and wellbeing of not only all employees but also the communities where our people operate every day.

“We have already seen a strong uptake from many employees, which is important as the vaccination status of our frontline operational staff will impact what work that many will be able do, so the COVID-19 vaccination push has become more imperative,” Chris said.

“We expect to see increasing requirements, from our clients, for only fully vaccinated workers to operate across multiples sectors where all our teams deliver services, consistent with the areas we work and the nature of our work maintaining public and private infrastructure.”

Citywide’s Executive Team and Board of Directors, led by the CEO, plus Chairman and former Victorian Premier John Brumby AO, rolled up their sleeves in support of the campaign, reinforcing the importance of a whole-of-company approach.

“The different COVID-19 variants have underlined just how important inoculation is against the virus. Ultimately, the decision to get vaccinated is in our hands,” Chris added.

“We will continue to be guided by the advice from the state and federal government health authorities, as well as continuing consultation and engagement across our workforce, and hopefully we will emerge from these economy-impacting restrictions sooner rather than later.”
